Officer’s Keen Observation Leads to Assault 2 Arrest

This morning at around 1:50, an EPD officer was near W. 12th and Chambers Street on a call when he happened to see a male walking in a direction away from him and glancing back several times in a manner that seemed suspicious.

The officer then saw the suspect, later identified as Andy Mcadoo, age 24, toss an unknown object covertly on the ground. The officer walked over and found the item, a discovered a knife covered in blood. Mcadoo was subsequently located and detained..

While officers were dealing with Mcadoo, 9-1-1 advised them of a stabbing victim who had just checked into the hospital. Officers responded to both the hospital to interview the victim and then also to an apartment in the 1000 block of W. 7th, where the victim said there had been an altercation over some belongings between him and the suspect. Earlier the victim had arrived at the apartment to find Mcadoo already inside. Mcadoo left the residence and later the victim discovered some of his personal items were stolen. A friend called to advise him that Mcadoo was in the alley near the apartment and the victim said he subsequently confronted Mcadoo, that there was a fight, and he was stabbed during the fight.

After treatment at the hospital, the victim was transported to Lane County Jail on a warrant. Mcadoo was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree.
