W. 7th Starbucks moves across the street
After years of serving up lattes and mochas on the corner of 7th and Jefferson, Starbucks has moved—to the other corner of 7th and Jefferson. Giving up their 1,524 square foot building next to Sprint, the Stereo Store, and Piano Liquidators, Starbucks chose to relocate across the street for more square feet and the ability to add a drive-thru.
“We opened on Monday for business,” said one barista. “The parking across the street was really bad. So we’re very glad to be here. We have much better parking and there’s finally potential to have a drive thru.”
And a drive thru they do have. “The drive thru hasn’t quite taken off yet,” said another barista. “Inside we’ve already been very busy. So it’s gonna get insanely busy once the drive thru catches on.” Considering that they are located right off the free way and at the intersection of two busy streets, the drive thru is a perfect concept for their location. Not only do they now have a drive thru, the interior of the building is beautiful. There is much more space, far more seating, and more elaborate decorations than when they were on the other side of 7th. The lighting is improved and the atmosphere more ambient.
Not to mention who’s going to be joining them next door.
“I’m so excited! And it’s going to be so bad for my diet!” another barista exclaimed. “Five Guys is going in next door!”
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Five Guys Burgers and Fries, it is an extremely popular burger and fries chain from Arlington, Virginia. The chain sells hamburgers, hot dogs, and French fries. They already have one highly successful franchise in Springfield near Gateway Mall. The chain is similar to the California chain In-N-Out in its emphasis on fresh products that are never frozen. With their ability to pack out their parking lot, Five Guys and Starbucks in the same plaza means “busy” will be written all over the new location. Starbucks’ parking lot already is half-full on lazy Wednesday afternoon. Add an average dinner crowd wanting a burger and then a frappucino, and you see why the relocating was both necessary and brilliant.
The W. 7th Starbucks is now located at 495 7th St, Suite 400. They opened for business on Monday, June 27th. For for information about Starbucks, visit www.starbucks.com. For more information about Five Guys Burgers and Fries, visit www.fiveguys.com.
