The Sawyer Family

This Eugene band,  Sawyer Family,  have all the instrumentation for a punk band, (with a stand up bass) have released three CD’s since 2003. The Sawyer Family Album (2003),  Why Did God Create the Sawyer Family? (2006) and The Burning Times (2008).  The words  ‘disgusting,’ ‘perverse’ and ‘sadistic’ come to mind while listening to some of their songs.   But with songs like “Say Good Bye” or “Impaler,” or “When You Fall Asleep” you can hear strong discernible melodies and haunting hooks. To me these guys sounded a lot like early Sex Pistols meets Danzig.

Touring at least 7 months out of the year, the band has performed over 300 shows in the past three years.  To see what it’s like on the road with this band, they taken the liberty to video tape their tour in 2009. To their credit, the CD “Burning Times” was recently picked up by Wasted State Records in the Untied Kingdom for distribution.
