Two Arrested for Melrose Store Shooting Incident

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg police officers arrested a man and a teenager in connection with a shooting incident at the Melrose Store.

A resident called police Sunday night after hearing gunshots and the store’s alarm going off when it was closed and seeing three men leave the area.

When officers arrived, they found the store’s front door shattered.

They found and arrested 27-year-old Joseph Campos nearby on Cleveland Hill Road. He had a 22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with him.

He is being held on several weapons charges including Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Attempting to Use or Cary a Dangerous Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and also Second Degree Criminal Mischief.

Officers found two others who were with Campos during the shooting incident. They were hiding in a field near where Campos was arrested.

One of them was a 17-year-old male; He was arrested on a probation violation. The other man was released and not charged.
