UO Athletic Dept. Hosts Annual Surplus Sale
The University of Oregon athletic department has scheduled its annual Surplus Sale for this upcoming Saturday inside the Moshofksy Center next to Autzen Stadium.
Doors will be open to the general public from 8 a.m. to 4 pm. where fans can browse through various Oregon apparel varying from T-shirts, jackets, warm-ups, leather jackets, sweatshirts & pants, rain suits, polos, shoes, sports bags, mugs, baseball/softball bats balls and more.
In years past sweatshirts have sold for around $15 and shirts around $5-10. Cleats (football and baseball) in common shoe sizes go fast. Shoulder pads and kneepads are also available. Helmets are not sold.
Assuming this year’s sale is like previous, it is advisable to arrive early and bring plenty of cash. In a release by the UO athletic department, all sales are cash-only (debit cards, credit cards, checks are not accepted) and finalized after purchase. Returns will not be accepted.
Many go to buy gear, sometimes up to 90% off, with the intentions of reselling. Items like shoes often go fast. Buyers will not be granted early access.
People have been known to setup outside for hours before in order to get a good position in line. Arriving at 8 a.m. or later may not allow buyers to find premium gear. Be prepared for long lines and hours of standing around. Due to cash handling, waiting to pay can sometimes last well over an hour.
Patches of Autzen’s old turf was sold in chunks two years ago. New items are added each year to the mix.
Game Two between the Oregon Ducks and Texas Longhorns softball game will occur during the surplus sale. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. PST.
The game will be aired on ESPN and ESPN3. Fans still at the sale for first pitch can watch the event on Watch ESPN for mobile phones and tablets.
Oregon’s Moshofsky Center is located between Autzen Stadium (football) and Pape Field (soccer/lacrosse) on Leo Harris Parkway. It is next to the Autzen Duck Store.
