King Estate + Pfeiffer Vineyard = Vineyard Designate Divine Wine
King Estate and Pfeiffer Vineyards have had a long and strong relationship. For years, King Estate has purchased more than 90 percent of the fruit grown on Pfeiffer Vineyards, and with this fruit, winemaker Jeff Kandarian of King Estate makes some exceptional vineyard designate wines.
According to Elizabeth Alcott, Tower Club and Direct Sales Manager at King Estate, King Estate has been in the process of elevating Pinot Gris as the premier white varietal for food and wine pairing. They continue to explore with several vineyard designate Pinot Gris.
Alcott says, “How many other wineries do you know that offer single-block or single-clone Pinot Gris?”
At a recent King Estate wine club release wine tasting, I sampled two 2010 vintages of vineyard designate wines produced by King Estate using Pfeiffer grapes: the 2010 King Estate Pfeiffer Vineyard Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Read more about these two outstanding wines on WineJulia.com.
