Wine Down Eugene
Wine Down Eugene July 4 – 10
Each year, my husband and I, along with our two boys, pack up the cooler and lawn chairs and head fifteen minutes south to Creswell for their Fourth of July Parade. From the dramatic F-15 flyover commencement to the fire trucks wailing on their horns and cooling off the audience with their hoses, the truly patriotic Creswell Parade usually lasts about two hours, and my kids have smiles on their faces from beginning to end.
Once the parade is over, we’re going to walk a couple blocks to Heidi Tunnell Catering Company (HTCC) for lunch and a glass of wine -they have beer too for you beer enthusiasts. HTCC will be open from 9 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, and they’ll be offering their delicious meat pies, fruit pies and wood fired pizzas aside one of the south Willamette Valley’s best wine lists. I’m looking forward to enjoying a tasty wood fired pizza along with a glass of Trust Cellars T.A.T.T. red blend – a wine I wrote about in a recent article, HTCC Barn Dinners Showcase Pacific NW Bounties.
The Creswell Farmers Market will be open from 9 am – 3 pm too, and it’s located inside Heidi Tunnell Catering Company, so we plan on getting some fresh goodies to pack up and take with us to Dexter Lake State Park, where we’ll be spending the rest of the afternoon and evening listening to live music while waiting for the fireworks show. This will be our first time to Dexter Lake, but their Fourth of July Extravaganza, which supports the Dexter Fire Department, has a great line-up of live music featuring 7 different bands including headliners The Procrastinators, a BBQ that is put on by the Dexter Fire Department, and from what I hear, a fantastic fireworks display.
Keeping my fingers crossed for sun and blue skies. Happy Independence Day!
