Look for lots of sunshine and slightly cooler temperatures today. Hopefully the wildfire smoke will push back to the East away from us.
High: 86
Low: 50
Forecast: Sunny and warm
A high pressure ridge (“Arch shape with blue arrows ”) has brought back the sunshine and warmed us up. The big problem is the smoke that is being pushed at us from the East. A surface thermal trough of low pressure (induced by the warm temperatures) will push eastward cooling us a bit today and it will start to shove the smoke to the East away from us. A upper level trough of low pressure (“U” shape shaded ) in the Gulf of Alaska will push a cold front through between Saturday and Sunday, but will only bring us a few more clouds and cooler temperatures that will warm up again next week as high pressure returns.
Forecast for the Southern and lower Mid Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield and Albany-Corvallis: Mostly sunny and a bit cooler today, partly cloudy tonight, mostly sunny Saturday AM, partly cloudy and cooler in the afternoon, mostly clear Saturday night, mostly sunny and warmer Sunday, then mostly clear Sunday night highs 86-80 lows near 50. Mostly sunny and warm Monday through Wednesday, partly cloudy Wednesday night and Thursday AM, then mostly sunny Thursday afternoon highs 86-80 lows near 48. (seasonal averages high 78 low 48)
- Forecast for the Umpqua Basin including Roseburg
- Forecast for the South Oregon Coast including Coos Bay and North Bend
- Forecast for the Cascades of Lane County
Because weather forecasting is a combination of science, intuition, and timing there can be no absolute guarantees that individual forecasts will be 100% accurate. Nature is in a constant state of flux and sudden unexpected weather events can happen.
