Wine Down Eugene

Wine Down Eugene – October 24-30

Some of the best parties of the year go down on Halloween night, or the closest weekend to Halloween, and most will no doubt have loads of fun Halloween themed cocktails along with a nice helping of beer and wine – many with Halloween themed labels. Each year, a couple weeks before All Hallow’s Eve, I go on a wine tasting mission to find wines that have Halloween themed labels that are not only fun, but tasty too.

Without a doubt, Ghost Hill Cellars Prospector’s Reserve Pinot Noir or Pinot Noir Rose and Owen Roe’s Sinister Hand top the list each and every year. These wines are consistently top-notch; in addition to, having spooky labels that boast equally spooky legends. Besides, they are both Oregon wineries, and you all know my heart belongs to Oregon.

This year, I heard World Market over by Valley River Mall had some excellent Halloween themed wines, including the Bogle Phantom that I searched and searched for last year and never found. So, I made a visit to this vibrant and eclectic store – one that I often avoid because I spend way too much time spending way too much money.

Their Halloween themed wines were easy to find – located in the heart of the Halloween section. They offered several wines I had never heard of, including PoiZin and Vinos de los Muertos, which offer great labels that would be oh so appropriate for Halloween, and I was pleased to find the elusive, phantom-like, Bogle Phantom.

Follow me over to WineJulia.com for reviews of my top five wickedly wicked wines for Halloween, including some other great labels that are sure to strike up conversation. Happy Halloween all!
