If it wasn’t clear already, Oregon Ducks men’s basketball head coach Dana Altman likes transfer players.
Junior college power forward Richard Amardi has declared his intentions of joining the Ducks, making him the last signee for the 2013 recruiting class. Amardi stands at 6’9, 220 lbs and will have one season to play under Coach Altman. Being a JUCO prospect, Amardi will not have to sit out a season after transferring and can play immediately.
While Amardi poses incredible ability to crash the boards and dominate around the rim, his mid-range game is what makes him such a great signing. The Ducks are thin for bigs with the graduations of EJ Singler, Arsalan Kazemi and Tony Woods.
Four of the team’s front court regulars are gone with those three regular starters.
Singler was the best shooter for the Ducks and Kazemi the best rebounder. With those two gone, the Ducks will have to replace a double-digit scorer and a double-digit rebounder respectively.
