Oregon defensive back Bronson Yim, a redshirt sophomore from St. Louis High School (Kapahulu, Hawaii), enters his third season with the Oregon program.
Before joining the Ducks, Yim was a standout prep safety for head coach Darnell Arcenaux. As a senior Yim helped lead the Crusaders to the 2010 state championship while also earning honor role for his work in the classroom. Yim received an opportunity after his prep career to join the Ducks as a walk-on and ultimately decided to enroll in the program.
In 2011, Yim spent his first year in Eugene as a redshirt and member of the scout team.
In 2012, Yim saw action for the Ducks last season. He made his first collegiate appearance in a win over Tennessee Tech and later in the season against Colorado.
Yim appeared in the 2013 Spring Game for the Green team posting 5.0 tackles (four unassisted, one assisted), 1.0 tackles for loss for four yards, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. His five tackles were fifth-most on the team and second-most of any defensive back.
Going into the 2013 season, Yim doesn’t figure to make it on the two-deep with how loaded the Oregon secondary will be. However, Yim should be a major contributor for the scout team and reserve playing time. He may also see time on special teams.
