Oregon Ducks defensive back Chris Seisay, a freshman from American Canyon High School (American Canyon, California), enters his first season in the Oregon program.
Before joining the Ducks, Seisay starred on both offense and defense. As a junior he recorded 26 catches for 756 yards (29.0 YPC) and nine touchdowns in addition to returning 10 kickoffs for 280 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, he finished with 73 tackles (56 unassisted, 17 assisted), four interceptions for 172 yards and one touchdown. As a senior he continued to develop and became a national name. He finished his last prep season with 28 receptions for 608 yards (21.7 YPC) and 11 touchdowns, six rushes for 93 yards (15.5 YPC) and one touchdown. He also showed skills on special teams, punting 26 times for 1,077 yards (41.4 YPP).On defense he recorded 92 tackles (67 unassisted, 25 assisted), 10 pass deflections, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and recovered one. His impressive season earned him Vallejo Times Herald Defensive Player of the Year and a MaxPrep Division II second-team all-state defender.
Seisay had offers from Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Hawaii, San Diego State, Utah, Washington State amongst other Division 1 programs before eventually signing with the Ducks.
Going into the 2013 season, it’s unclear whether or not Seisay will redshirt. Considering the depth at DB for the Ducks, it’d make sense to sit him and let him develop another year before bringing him into the mix.
Oregon may be losing all four starters after next season, so 2014 will be a great opportunity to battle for serious play time.
