in By The Numbers/Firehose/Headline Feed/Rotator/Sports by

Oregon Ducks punter Dylan Ausherman, a redshirt junior from El Diamante High School (Visalia, California), enters his second season in the Oregon program.

Before joining the Ducks, Ausherman was a highly talented special teams star, but ultimately elected to go the JUCO route. Ausherman competed punted 67 times as a sophomore at the College of the Sequoias including six punts of 50+ yards and eight downed inside the 20-yard line. Only one of his punts went for a touchback. He competed at the Nike Summer Camp in Los Angeles in 2011 where he was named the top punter.

Ausherman had offers from Division 1 programs like Louisiana Tech, San Diego State and Utah before signing with the Ducks. Scout listed Ausherman as a three-star prospect while Rivals listed him as a two-star.

In 2012, Ausherman redshirted while sitting second on the depth chart at punter.

Ausherman appeared for the first time at Autzen Stadium for the 2013 Oregon Spring Game. Ausherman punted four times for 165 yards (41.2 YPC) with 0 returned punts, a long of 48 and one touchback.

Going into to the 2013 season, Ausherman figures to take over the punting duties for the graduated Jackson Rice. After two seasons of JUCO play and a year to learn under Rice, Ausherman is in a prime position for a breakout year.

Ausherman will have two seasons of eligibility with the Ducks.
