The Oregon Ducks basketball team has probably become Transfer U. With names like Tony Woods, Carlos Emery and Arsalan Kazemi, Oregon has shown it is capable of bringing in top-level transfers who make immediate impacts.
Soon you might be able add Jason Calliste to that list. Calliste, a 6’2″ 172 lbs. guard from the University of Detroit has committed to play for head coach Dana Altman and the Oregon program. He is eligible to play immediately.
With the Titans, Calliste averaged 14.4 PPG, 3.1 RPG and 3.3 APG and was the team’s second-leading scorer.
Going into next season, the Ducks already have a loaded backcourt with Damyean Dotson, Dominic Artis and Jonathon Lloyd, but they clearly believe they have a need for another guard and will use their final available scholarship. They also signed Houston transfer Joseph Young this offseason.
Oregon has had some consistency issues with guard play over the last few seasons, and having another solid player into the mix should help with the unit’s continued development.
