The NCU volleyball team continued its winning ways on Saturday, this time a four-set (23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-15) whipping of Evergreen State University for the Beacons’ third consecutive victory.

The Beacons, despite a sloppy start, were able to rally around the performance of Chandler Gabrio who posted 15 kills and four blocks. Gabrio finished the match with a .462 hitting mark while teammates Janel Fetters (four blocks and 13 kills) and Chelsea McGowan (four blocks and nine kills) weren’t far behind.

The team finished the match hitting .272 with 59 kills, nine blocks, and nine service aces. Defensively they held the visiting Geoducks to .110 hitting and a total of 38 errors.

“We had a slow start but it was nice to see the girls work ourselves out of that quickly from the second set on,” Beacons head coach Mike Gaffaney said.

NCU will have a six day break before returning to the court on Friday to host Corban University at 7:00 p.m.
