Fleeing the fog for Florence. Mon Ami and the Edwin K. - tough combo to beat.

Behind The Scenes: Ain’t Talkin ‘Bout Love

I hate fog. I don’t mean I dislike it or that it annoys me. I mean I hate it. Yes, if hate is a crime I am guilty when it comes to fog. My wife and I had it with the fog and were excited to get to spend a weekend in Florence speaking (work related) and reminding ourselves what that orb in the sky was all about.

This new show (Feb 2) comes to you from Florence. I have a love affair with this town. 15 years ago (or longer) they asked me to be the Grand Marshall of their annual Rhododendron Festival. Ever since that time the town has just kind of taken me in as a local. On our upcoming RDTV show we will introduce you to our favorite place to stay in Florence and that is the Edwin K Bed and Breakfast.

The Edwin K is located right in Old Town so you are only a few blocks from shopping, the river, and many restaurants, plus the rooms are amazing. You are sleeping in the 100 year old Sears home, and if it’s romance you long for (guys), this is a place sure to win points in that department. We will give you a tour on the show and tell you about the amazing five course breakfast that comes with an overnight stay.

You’ll feel the love at Mon Ami. This is where the locals are.

We’ll also take you to Mon Ami, the best gourmet deli and antique store in town. Mon Ami is the place where the locals hang out. Fresh house-roasted deli meats, fresh pies and homemade soups, I’m telling you this is the place you need to go.

We have a lot of other great stuff in our show including a one-on-one with Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy.

I’ve had many interviews with Kitty over the years and this is my favorite.

Also, a story that will probably make you cry. We talk to a local woman, Laura Mason Caldwell, who is dying of Breast Cancer. But don’t let a few tears scare you away. Her final chapter will inspire you and actually make you feel alive.

I really like this show and hope you do to. I worked in the News Business and wanted to do this type of show my entire career. Management at station X and Y always seemed to get in the way. Not anymore. We are doing things raw, real and remarkable, if I may say so myself.

The show airs on Sunday, on KEVU, at 4:30.

We know there is a Super Bowl Game fighting with us for content and while I will be watching the game too, this will be the best half-time show on the planet and you can only get it on KEVU at 4:30.

We will post the show to http://www.rickdancer.tv on Monday.
