After recording back-to-back shutouts against No. 5-ranked Washington in their doubleheader this past weekend, Oregon sophomore pitcher Cheridan Hawkins was named Pac-12 pitcher of the week for her play from March 25-30. This was Hawkins’ sixth career selection, the most of any Oregon student-athlete.
This season, Hawkins has boasted a 0.99 ERA, accounted for 182 of Oregon’s 247 total strikeouts and currently holds an 18-2 overall record. Against the Huskies, Hawkins posted a 0.95 ERA in 14.2 innings and allowed just two earned runs in their first ever sweep of Washington. She also totaled 11 strikeouts in the series.
Up next for the No. 2 ranked Ducks (30-4, 6-0 Pac-12) is a doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara (21-12, 1-2 conference) at home. Following their series against the Gauchos, the Ducks will face No. 1-ranked UCLA (32-2, 7-1 Pac-12) in a three-game home series. The Bruins have junior Stephany LaRosa, the Pac-12 Player of the Week. The Ducks are currently atop of the Pac-12 standings with the Bruins just behind them.
