Opportunity Village Open House

opportunity villageEUGENE, Ore. — There were lots of visitors at Eugene’s Opportunity Village Saturday afternoon.

The community held an open house with music, food, and a crowd of people.

Board members and residents say the 29 housing units are finally done and the village has reached capacity with 31 residents. Leaders say they want visitors to see how the village is run and and how it’s making a difference.

“I think a lot of people, when we proposed this project, that they had an idea of a homeless camp and the negative images that come with that so, I think people will come out and see that it may look a lot better than they expected it to,” said Andy Heben, an Opportunity Village board member.

Board members also announced a new project similar to Opportunity Village called Emerald Village. That’s in the works.
