This has been such a fun and long weekend! I got to experience a couple of fun and very different things, too much to put in one piece so I thought I would split them up into two parts.
In this weeks Out and About I would like to share with you my experience out at Silver Falls State Park. It is Oregon’s largest park and it boasts 10 breathtaking falls.
This Memorial weekend is often filled with gatherings and barbecues with friends and families, celebrating the men and women who fought for our country and who lost their lives defending it.
An untold many have come before us who have paved the way and fought for the things they believed in. This weekend, I got to experience a piece of history that will continue on forever. Had it not been for a photographer named June Drake and his relentless efforts so many years ago; Silver Falls would not be here for our pleasure.
My friend Paula and I spent well over 4 hours in the canyon, taking in the amazing falls and foliage. There were a lot of people out that day and I bet each one of us took away a different experience. There was so much to look at. I thought I would share with you photographs of that afternoon, as sometimes a photograph is worth a thousand words (there are more photographs at the end, don’t forget you can click on each one to view a larger photograph).
There are plenty of places to have a picnic, swim, and even camp. You should plan on making a day of it, as there is so much to see. I know I only scratched a small surface of what is out there in the 9000 acre park.
I would highly recommend a comfortable pair of shoes that you have worn-in, water and snacks. I saw a good majority of people with small backpacks as well as hiking poles. Dogs are allowed on leash in certain areas only, so please check that out prior to going.
I hope you are able to head out to Silver Falls State Park. It really is quite amazing. I have attached a link here for your convenience with more information about the park.
See you out there!
