Eugene Emeralds End First Half With Win Over Hillsboro

//

The first half started well for the Eugene Emeralds and the conclusion of the first half ended pretty well too. Eugene pulled out 13-7 over the Hillsboro Hops on Monday night thanks to solid pitching from the bullpen which gave up five hits and five walks and no runs to close out the first half of the regular season. Overall the Eugene Emeralds finished with fifteen wins and twenty three losses that Robbie Wine and Company will look to turn around in the second half which starts on Tuesday.

There is no rest for the weary as the slate is wiped clean and the positive is the Eugene Emeralds can begin with a winning streak starting tonight with a win over Tri-City who comes to PK Park for a five game series. The Dust Devils, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies finished the first half on the wrong side of the ledger.

Tri-City enters the second half with a three game losing streak being swept by Vancouver over the weekend. All five games of the series are set for a 7:05pm PT first pitch from PK Park as Eugene looks to turn around a rough first half to finish the season strong. The playoffs are still on the radar for the Ems this season and a strong finish could get them there.

There were moments in the first half where pitching and hitting came through in big ways for this team. If they can string together some wins and the chemistry comes together this team could be a dangerous one to finish out the 2014 regular season.
