The Eugene Emeralds found their offensive power early on Thursday night scoring five runs in the first inning and not looking back. Eugene Starting Pitcher Michael Kelly gave some of those runs back in the top of the second making it 5-3 Ems, but ultimately threw for five innings gave up six hits and had two strikeouts for the victory over the Everett Aquasox.
Eugene added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and entered the ninth inning with a comfortable seven run lead at 10-3. The Eugene Emeralds bullpen again faltered as Relief Pitcher Cory Bostjancic entered the game and allowed four of the first five hitters he faced reach base that turned to a 10-8 lead for Eugene. Closer Bryan Verbitsky struckout the only batter he faced to close out the game, along with his seventh save on the season.
The Eugene Emeralds are now back at the .500 mark for the second half of the season. The series with Everett is tied at one game a piece and will continue on Friday night starting at 7:05pm from PK Park. The five game series will conclude on Sunday night before the Eugene Emeralds host the All-Star game on Tuesday night. Tickets are still available
