Eugene Emeralds Hit Road Block in Opener at Boise

The Eugene Emeralds had a good feeling for one of few times this season as they took a two game road winning streak into another road series with the Boise Hawks on Sunday night. The feel good part would not last long as the Ems lost to the Boise Hawks by a wide margin of 17-3 in the first of a three game series.

The game started out well for Eugene as they scored for the first time again. They have done that in thirty of the fifty five games they have played this season, however the good mood would not last long. Boise who would lost to Eugene in a series to start the season would come back in a big way plating five runs in the bottom of the frame and not looking back.

Eugene is currently one game above the .500 mark for the second half of the season and are likely playing for pride this season as the playoffs are probably not an option. The second game of the three games series with Boise starts tonight at 6:15 Pacific Time.

The Eugene Emeralds are in the basement of the Northwest League South Division and are eight games back from first place. The team is 24-31 on the year if you combined the first and second half of the season.
