There are points in a season where wins come at a premium and losses are not something that is needed. The Eugene Emeralds had a chance over the last four games to make up some ground and push toward a playoff spot for the post season. The weekend did not go well for the home team at PK Park as they were swept out of their own stadium by a team that has already punched their post season ticket.
The Hillsboro Hops came to Eugene and dominated with the bat beating the Eugene Emeralds over a three game set, 29-12 and leaving Robbie Wine’s team staring down the barrel of a five game road trip to Everett starting on Tuesday. The Eugene Emeralds home record stands at 17-16, their record away from the friendly confines of PK Park is worse, much worse at 9-21. Not a good statistic heading into the week ahead.
There was a bright spot in the finale on Monday as Eugene Emeralds Starting Pitcher threw the first four innings, and threw well. He allowed just a two out walk in the first and struck out six Hops on the night. The game turned from a 1-0 lead for Eugene and by the end of the sixth it was 7-1 in favor of Hillsboro.
The road series with Everett starts tonight at 7:05 with games listed at 7:05 through Saturday before returning home next week to host Vancouver for a five game set at PK Park.
