Suspected Gang Related Shooting Death

Portland OR – On Sunday August 17, 2014, at 5:00 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the Eastwood Village Apartments, located at 15139 Southeast Powell Boulevard, on the report of a shooting. 

Officers arrived in the area and learned from witnesses that the shots seemed to be focused on one of the apartments. 

Officers located a female adult deceased inside an apartment. 

Witnesses have told police that the suspects were several African American males with handguns. 

Preliminary information from witnesses indicates that the shooting is gang-related. 

Homicide Detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to begin a homicide investigation. The Gang Enforcement Team will assist Homicide detectives with this investigation. 

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Non-Emergency Line at (503) 823-3333

No further information updates are expected until later Sunday morning. The Public Information Officer (PIO) is unavailable to respond to the scene but will be available later today for interviews. 

The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the City of Portland.

Gun crimes in progress should immediately be reported to 9-1-1.

Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared with investigators as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects.
