Eugene Police Investigate Cold Case

Martha MorrisonEUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene cold case is being reopened after 40 years as police gain new access to DNA samples.

It’s all following the disappearance of Martha Morrison, last seen in Portland in 1974.

Police say they have new evidence that may match her skeletal remains.

At the time of her disappearance, Morrison was 17 years old and had recently traveled to the Eugene-Springfield area.

Authorities say she lived in Portland with a man described as a tall, thin, black male.

Morrison and the man visited her mother in Aug. 1974, but hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

“Martha was missing from Portland. She was headed for Eugene, but she never made it here. She was, I believe, hitchhiking and somebody picked her up and she was never seen again,” said Bob Walker, EPD cold case volunteer

Eugene police, along with authorities in Washington state want to give Morrison’s family closure.

If you have any information, call police.
