SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A bassist for the Eugene Symphony is asking for the public’s help, after his instrument was stolen this weekend.
Richard Meyn is a principal bassist for the Eugene Symphony and music instructor at Oregon State University. He says around 11 p.m. Saturday he was running groceries up to his apartment, when he came back outside and his bass was gone.
Meyn reported the bass missing to Springfield Police. He estimated the 160-year-old instrument is worth up to $15,000. He’s had the bass since high school and wants it back.
“It fills a big whole in my life and I feel like I’m not quite a whole person if I don’t have it,” Meyn said.
If you’ve seen the instrument or have any information, you’re asked to call Springfield Police.
