Portland OR – On Saturday November 1, 2014, at 11:17 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a road rage incident between two drivers on Southeast Foster Road under I-205.
Officers arrived and a witness pointed out the suspect vehicle involved in the incident. An officer initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, a silver Kia, but the driver sped away on Foster Road at a high rate of speed.
Due to the suspect’s dangerous driving, the officer terminated the pursuit at Southeast 72nd Avenue and Foster Road.
Over the next several minutes, officers in several areas of Southeast Portland reported seeing the speeding vehicle.
On Stark Street at 102nd Avenue, an East Precinct sergeant saw the vehicle approaching him the wrong way on Stark, eastbound in the westbound-only lanes of traffic. The suspect appeared to be traveling at nearly 100 MPH. The sergeant moved the patrol car to avoid a collision and the suspect crashed into two other vehicles and came to rest at 105th Avenue.
The suspect exited the vehicle after the crash and fled on foot but was captured a short time later.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
Upon his release from the hospital, the suspect will be booked into the Multnomah County Jail on numerous charges, including a parole violation for DUII.
Nobody else was injured during this incident.
