EUGENE, Ore. — The future of Eugene’s Civic Stadium is getting an extension. Any hopeful owners now have until January 16 to put in bids to the City of Eugene.
When the 4J School District approved the city’s bid for the stadium, it was conditional. The city needed to find a partner with at least $3 million to renovate and maintain the facility without the city’s involvement. Now the city council is considering a whole different option.
“An organization could purchase the facility property outright from the city for the same price we’re paying 4J for it if that was to go through,” says Laura Hammond, Policy Analyst with the City of Eugene.
The city is expecting to make a final decision on February 16. If neither option works, the fate of Civic Stadium will be back in the hands of 4J.
