Homeless Rest Stop Open House

SANCTUARY OPEN HOUSEEUGENE, Ore. — Community members had a chance to tour the newest homeless rest stop in Eugene Saturday.

The Nightingale Health Sanctuary opened in December. It’s near Lane County Behavioral Health, across from Autzen Stadium.

It’s home to about 20 people and has room for ten more.

Residents say they’re very happy at the new, quiet location and are now asking the city and county to give them more time at the site.

“Apparently there’s a football event and then there’s just one day. Then football season doesn’t start til September, so we’re hoping to be able to stay longer,” said Tracy Joscelyn, sanctuary resident.

“Look how clean it is. It’s going to be this clean since day one,” said resident Nathan Showers.

The site will close in April so tailgate groups can use the property for the spring football game.
