Suspected Drunk Drive Eludes, Crashes

2-17 armando ramon-ramirez mugSPRINGFIELD, Ore. —  Springfield Police say a suspected drunk driver led officers on a short pursuit late Monday night before crashing.

Police say an officer attempted to stop 20-year-old Armando Roman-Ramirez of Junction City at the 2600 block of Marcola Road around 11:30 p.m.

Officers say after the stop was initiated, the vehicle accelerated, ran a red light at 19th St., then lost control, hitting a curb on Q Street before hitting a fence.

Police say Roman-Ramirez’s blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit. He is currently being held in the Lane County Jail on charges of DUII, reckless driving, and felony elude by vehicle.
