Man in Jail for Trying to Attack Officer

Eugene PoliceEUGENE, Ore. — A driver is in jail for allegedly trying to attack a Eugene police officer during a traffic stop.

EPD says an officer tried to pull over 62-year-old Barney Buse just before 2 p.m. Friday.

After spotting him driving with expired license plates and a possible suspended license.

During the traffic stop at West First Avenue and Bertelsen Road, police say Buse got out of his car, lunged, and swung at the officer.

They say the officer warned Buse to stop, but when he didn’t, the officer shot him with a Taser.

Buse was taken to the hospital then lodged at the Lane County Jail. He faces a list of charges including assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
