EUGENE, Ore. — Crews are investigating after responding to an overnight house fire in Eugene on Monday.
Around 12:30 a.m., a passerby called to report a house on fire on 28th Avenue between Garfield Street and Chambers.
Crews arrived to find the house fully involved, with flames bursting through the roof. According to firefighters, the house was being remodeled following some previous water damage, which made extinguising the flames more difficult.
“The house is partially on jacks and cribbing, so access was difficult,” Battalion Chief of the Eugene Springfield Fire Department Jeff Kronser said. “We also had live power lines down that hindered fire operations.”
Fire crews have since cleared that downed line.
They said no one was inside the burning home, and no one was injured.
Crews are still working to find an exact cause.
