5 Displaced by West Eugene House Fire

in Headline Feed by

EUGENE, Ore. – Five people will be without a home to start 2016, after a fire caused more than $125,000 in damages.

The fire was reported just before 7 p.m. Thursday, at a home on the 3500 block of Wood Ave. By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to the back of the home.

Crews managed to put out the fire in about 20 minutes, but the home is unlivable.

No one was home when the fire started, but firefighters say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.

The American Red Cross is helping the five people, including three children, who lived at the house.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
