SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Police said an explosion inside a Springfield home appears to have been caused by a marijuana extraction process.
Fire crews were dispatched to the explosion at a house on South 58th Street Tuesday afternoon. Officers said the force of the blast was of such magnitude, that it sent a portion of the home’s refrigerator to the front yard near the street.
The Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team said no residents were inside the home at the time of the explosion. They said two dogs were inside the house, but appear not to be injured.
Detectives said that the house is uninhabitable in its current state and that the investigation is ongoing.
