Where Did The Week Go

Woman Robs Wyoming Bank to Return to Prison

There’s a scene in The Shawshank Redemption when the character Brooks is finally being released from prison after decades behind bars. Rather than being excited, he’s afraid and reluctant to join a world he doesn’t know. After experiencing this new world, he eventually takes his own life.

He was “institutionalized” on the inside therefore prison was the only home he knew. It was a sad scene in the film and unfortunately, a similar story was reported this week.

Linda Patricia Thompson, 59, was released from prison in Salem, Oregon. She eventually made her way to Wyoming where she was unable to get a room at a homeless shelter. According to her, she suffered facial fractures after strangers beat her at a Cheyenne park.

Instead of spending one more night on the streets, Thompson instead walked into a US Bank branch in Cheyenne and handed a teller a cardboard note that said, “I have a gun. Give me all your money.”

The teller gave her thousands of dollars and after Thompson exited the bank, she threw the cash up in the air and sat down to wait for police to arrive.

Investigators say Thompson told them she wanted to go back to prison.

She faces a detention hearing Tuesday on a bank robbery charge and doesn’t have an attorney yet.

Thankfully, her story didn’t end like Brooks’ did, but it’s still sad to read about someone being released from prison and forced to endanger not only herself, but others just to go back because she can’t get any help.

She’ll likely return to prison where hopefully she can receive the proper counseling that will enable her to succeed on the outside.

Republicans Furious at Bradley Cooper For Attending DNC

Apparently, republicans are having a hard time discerning fiction from reality. Case-in-point: Bradley Cooper attending the Democratic National Convention.

Cooper attended the convention with his model girlfriend, Irina Shayk, on Wednesday and conservatives had a full-blown conniption.

Cooper starred as U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in American Sniper, which was the highest-grossing movie of 2014, and the movie was especially popular with conservatives.

But apparently those same people believe Cooper is actually Kyle in real life because many took to Twitter to blast the actor for attending.

Nat Shupe tweeted, “I have a list of celebrities that support Socialism I refuse to spend another $ on. Add this one. Boycott them all.”

Mitch followed that up with, “Bradley Cooper, how could you POSSIBLY play the hero Chris Kyle so well and then surround yourself w/anti-Americans?”

Perhaps my favorite tweet was from The Real ExTex who wrote, “Bradley Cooper at DNC?! Guess I’ve seen my last Bradley Cooper movie. Ewww Ick.”

In reality, Cooper has been a democrat for many years. He’s been donating to Hillary Clinton’s campaign since 2008 as well as supporting Obamacare and the president’s gun safety initiatives.

The profession of acting is such that a person portrays many different characters over the course of their career. You could argue that Cooper has played douchey (Wedding Crashers, The Hangover Trilogy, The A-Team, Aloha) far more than anything else so if you’re going to confuse his real-life persona with anything, it would be that.

But refusing to see an actor’s movies because of his political beliefs is asinine. Tom Cruise believes in Scientology, but does that stop me from seeing every single one of his movies in the theater? Absolutely not.

I could care less about an actor’s personal life as long as they entertain me.

Scott Baio and Antonio Sabato Jr. represented the celebrities at the RNC which probably left them upest. The Democrats have movie stars like Cooper, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio and the republicans are still stuck in the ’80s.

What people should be talking about is Cooper and Shayk’s couple body language because between Wimbledon and this, I don’t know how they’re still together. The man clearly loves tennis and politics and Shayk wants nothing to do with either. That or her face just looks annoyed all the time.

Maybe it’s the beard. Maybe he’s going full method for a role right now and this is how she’s expressing her feelings about it. I can’t wait to see where these two go next.

Six Flags Turns Away Girl For Wearing T-Shirt

Who knew Six Flags had such a strict dress code.

Bina Ramesh, 22, was celebrating her birthday riding roller coasters at a Six Flags in Jackson, NJ when she was met with some unwanted sexism after the security team didn’t like her t-shirt.

“I was re-entering the park with my friends after I was already admitted earlier that day,” Ramesh told Seventeen. “I had forgotten something in the car. Going back in, I had to go through the metal detectors again, which had lights that picked up the neon light blue bralette I was wearing under my T-shirt.”

Security guards took one look at her ordinary gray v-neck and decided it was “inappropriate” and “against park rules.”

She swapped shirts with a male friend in the parking lot to get back into the park. Of course they didn’t mind the shirt on his body, but on hers, it was offensive. She posted her experience on Facebook and Instagram where it has received more than 300 “likes” and 100 shares to date.

“I’m so glad that people felt as angry as my friends are about the situation,” she said. “But this double standard needs to change.”

The shirt is as plain as vanilla. Security should have been okay with the situation considering she had already been admitted earlier in the day. Sounds like some lowly security team needed to go on a power trip and they took it out on poor miss Ramesh.
