Coos Bay Man Accused of Hitting His Wife with Hammer

COOS BAY, Ore. – A man is in jail after being accused of hitting his wife with a hammer.

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 32000 block of Highway 101 in Coos Bay after receiving reports of a dispute between a man and a woman.

When deputies arrived the woman said she tried to call 911 but her husband, 38 year-old Weylin Silva, took her cell phone and forced her into a bedroom closet.

Deputies said the woman had head and hand injuries from the dispute. They said when they tried to interview Silva, he would not talk about anything involving the dispute.

Silva was arrested for assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing. He was booked into the Coos County Jail.
