SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A public memorial for three children will soon become a permanent fixture in Springfield.
The memorial, located on the corner of on 54th and Main Street, is for three young children who were hit and killed by a vehicle at that intersection in February of last year.
The City of Springfield said a permanent memorial is in the works. They’re working with the children’s family to design it. They’re hoping to plant a tree and install a bench as well as a plaque.
Safeway in Springfield donated $1,500 towards the project.
The City said the new memorial will replace the current one. They plan on installing it sometime next year.
