EUGENE, Ore.–South Eugene’s football season has come to a surprising end.
The Axemen were forced to forfeit their 6A playoff game against Jesuit because a lack of players on their varsity roster. South Eugene only has 21 players on their roster at this time, six of which being linemen. Because they have suffered so many injuries they say they do not have enough players to compete in the post season.
In a letter released by the school’s athletic director, Head Coach Kevin Leonard said he thought it was in the players best interest and safety to not move any players up from junior varsity.
