Woman Escapes Burning Car after Crashing into Tree

COOS BAY, Ore. – The Coos County Sheriff’s Office said a woman escaped from a burning car after she lost control and struck a tree.

They said it happened on Tuesday at about 3:08 p.m.

Coos County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Seven Devils Road at mile post 12.

When officials arrived they said the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

They said the driver Kathy Nix, 50, was able to get out of her vehicle after she lost control and crashed into a tree. A passerby helped Nix get to a safe location.

Nix was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Deputies said wet road conditions and speed was a factor in the crash.
