HARRISBURG, Ore. – A woman is behind bars after she allegedly tried to rob a man, sticking a lighter in his back and posing it as a gun.
Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a call Saturday around 1 p.m. The caller said he was unlocking a propane tank when he was approached from behind and grabbed around the neck near the 23000 block of Highway 99 near Harrisburg.
He said the suspect stuck an object in his back, demanded the keys to his pickup, and said he would be shot if he did not comply. The caller said he did not believe the object was a gun and was able to turn around before striking the suspect. She fled towards the Knife River property on Peoria Road.
Deputies were able to locate 40-year-old Dawn Allison Ferguson, a transient from Washington hiding on the Knife River property.
Officials say Ferguson did not have a gun and possibly used her lighter to simulate a gun. After a short foot chase and struggle with deputies, she was arrested and booked into the Linn County Jail. She faces charges of robbery, criminal tresspassing, and resisting arrest.
