The Oregon men finished 1-2 in defending their home course in Thursday’s Oregon Preview.

James West covered the 7k track on Pre’s Trail in Alton Baker Park in 21:49.25 with teammate Jackson Mestler just a couple ticks behind at 21:51.03.

The two chased down the University of Portland’s Stuart McCallum down the stretch to give the Ducks the team title over the Pilots by a 19-36 margin.

The Women of Oregon fell a point short in their effort to hold off the Pilots despite Susan Ejore’s first place effort. The senior grabbed individual honors with a time of 16:09.54 over the 5k track.

Teammate Amanda Gehrich clocked 16:39.43 to finish second in her collegiate debut but the Pilots took five of the next six spots to slip past the Ducks 28-29 for the team title.

Oregon will spend two weeks training in Sunriver before returning to action on September 21, hosting the Bill Dellinger Invitational at Springfield Country Club.
