A HAZARDOUS SEAS WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM TODAY FOR THE COASTAL WATERS FROM FLORENCE TO CAPE BLANCO FROM 10-60 NAUTICAL MILES. A HIGH SURF ADVISORY ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM UNTIL 11 PM THURSDAY FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST. HEALTH ADVISORIES: A RECREATIONAL USE HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WILLOW CREEK RESERVOIR IN MORROW COUNTY (NEW) AND SOUTH TENMILE LAKE IN COOS COUNTY DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIAL (HARMFUL ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS (HARMFUL ALGAE TOXINS) ABOVE RECREATIONAL GUIDELINE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE IDENTIFIED. BOATING IS SAFE AS LONG AS SPEEDS DO NOT CREATE EXCESSIVE WATER SPRAY, WHICH COULD LEAD TO INHALATION RISK. ALTHOUGH TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN, PEOPLE WHO HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES MAY EXPERIENCE A PUFFY RED RASH. A PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WATER CONTACT AT NESKOWIN BEACH IN TILLAMOOK COUNTY DUE TO HIGHER-THAN-NORMAL LEVELS OF FECAL BACTERIA. FECAL BACTERIA CAN CAUSE DIARRHEA, STOMACH CRAMPS, SKIN RASHES, UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS AND OTHER ILLNESSES. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE WATER IN THIS AREA UNTIL THE ADVISORY IS LIFTED. VISITORS SHOULD AVOID WADING IN NEARBY CREEKS, POLS OF WATER ON THE BEACH, OR IN DISCOLORED WATER, AND STAY CLEAR OF WATER RUNNOFF FLOWING INTO THE OCEAN. RECREATIONAL USE HEALTH ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE HOWARD’S BAY AREA OF UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF AS CYANOBACTERIAL (HARMFUL ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS (HARMFUL ALGAE TOXINS) ABOVE RECREATIONAL GUIDELINE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. NO BLOOMS HAVE BEEN DETECTED AT THIS TIME, BUT BLOOMS CAN DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND IN AREAS THAT ARE NOT VISUALLY MONITORED BY JEFFERSON COUNTY , OREGON STATE PARKS, OR THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE. THE ADVISORY WILL REMAIN IN EFFFECT THROUGH NOVEMBER 1, 2019. A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with arrows) is leaving as an Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (Shaded “U” shape with arrows) moves in bringing wet weather. The graphics for days 1-3 show a front pushing through today. The graphics for days 3-7 show the frontal systems moving up to and through the Pacific Northwest Saturday through next Tuesday.
