Motorcyclist dies in crash on Hwy 238 – Jackson County


On Monday, August 12, 2019 at approximately 3:18 A.M. Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a motorcycle crash on Hwy 238 near milepost 37.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Stephen Coolidge (57) from Jacksonville,  was traveling west on Hwy 238 when he struck a cow (deceased) that was in the roadway.

Coolidge sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Hwy 238 was closed for over two hours following the crash.

OSP was assisted by Medford Fire and ODOT.
