  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT  UNTIL 11 PM TONIGHT FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES, THE SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS, AND THE SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) just offshore is sending a lot of moisture to about all of the Western U.S.. The graphics for days 1-3  show no frontal systems moving through or into Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 3-7    Sunday through Thursday show the complex frontal system headed toward the Pacific Northwest Coast moving through  through Southern California between Tuesday through next Thursday.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with evening showers and a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms, a slight (20%) chance of showers late tonight (0.25 in. of rain possible, more in storms),
  • Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of AM showers, a mix of clouds and sun and a bit warmer Friday afternoon,  partly cloudy in the evening, clear with areas of frost late Friday night,
  • Areas of AM frost, sunny and a bit warmer Saturday afternoon, mostly clear at night,
  • Sunny and a bit cooler Sunday (Easter), then mostly clear Sunday night.
