The Dexter Lake 4th of July event was started 16 years ago and grew from a small gathering of people barbecuing and enjoying the beautiful setting, to the event we put on today – a day long music festival, fireworks and food party.  This family event has been kept alive by Mike Cockerline.  Mike wanted his community to continue to have a safe, entertaining and family friendly event.  Mike brought the Dexter Volunteer Firefighters onboard and the event popularity, and particularly their fundraising Chicken BBQ, has become a favorite component at the celebration.  This year The Pleasant Hill Boosters have taken over as sponsors for this event!

 

In 2011, Kelly Asay and Eugene Daily News joined forces with Mike and the DVFA and together they have worked to turn the Dexter 4th of July into the best 4th of July in Lane County.  Last year more than 4000 people attended.

 

We expect this year to be our biggest yet.
