FBI Arrests Oregon’s Suspected “Short Stack Bandit”

The Dallas FBI Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Morgan Brice Williams late in the evening on Saturday, August 9. The arrest took place without incident at a hotel in Irving, Texas. In March 2014, a federal grand jury in Oregon indicted Williams on five counts of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery. Williams remains lodged in the Irving Jail awaiting transport back to Oregon. Investigators had dubbed Williams as the “Short Stack Bandit” based on his stature.

Salem OR – On August 9th the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was requested by the Salem Police Department to investigate a disturbance that occurred at a Salem residence involving an off duty Salem Police Officer. Responding Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies found that Officer Brandon Hanes, 40 years old, had been in an altercation at the location. Deputies interviewed all parties and witnesses and then referred the case to the Marion County District Attorney.
