Couple Accidentally Texts Strangers About Newborn, Strangers Show Up Anyway
Finally, after years of strange and negative stories from the state of Florida (Albeit great writing material), we have a heartwarming story about total strangers coming together.
The family of Lindsey and Mark Knox were so eladed about bringing their newborn son Cason into the world, they just had to tell everyone they knew. But in all their excitement, they accidentally texted a total stranger.
Tallahassee, Florida, man Dennis Williams received the text last Saturday informing him that the couple was having a baby.
“We are at the hospital. Having a baby today,” the text read. “She has dilated to between 5-6.”
Confused, Dennis wrote back, “Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number.”
But that text went unnoticed and they were then sent a photo of the newborn. After seeing this, Dennis responded, “Well I don’t know y’all but me and the boys will be thru to take picture with the baby.”
The new parents finally realized their mistake and apologized, but the Williams insisted on showing up with gifts.
The Knox family later posted a photo of them with the Williams at the hospital on Facebook with a caption that read, “What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this! You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know! If we all only had this kind of a heart.”
A great story from the state of Florida. Who knew.
Man Arrested For Failing to Return VHS Tape Rented in 2001
James Meyers, 37, of North Carolina was pulled over by police on Tuesday as he was taking his daughter to school. Officers ran his license and learned an active warrant had been issued for Meyers’ arrest.
But what was the crime? DUI? Assault or perhaps something even more serious? Nope. It was because of a VHS tape he failed to return in 2001. After dropping off his daughter, Meyers turned himself in.
It all started back in late 2001 when Meyers allegedly rented a copy of the Tom Green comedy Freddy Got Fingered. For whatever reason, Meyers never returned the tape and a warrant was issued years ago and remained active despite the fact that the rental store eventually closed its doors.
Meyers is scheduled to appear in court on April 27 and faces a possible $200 fine if convicted.
When learning of the story, Green, who is a stand-up comedian touring Australia, Tweeted, “I just saw this and I am struggling to believe it is real.” While speaking with the NY Daily News, Green said he’s spoken with Meyers about the incident and has offered to do what he can to help.
“If it’s 200 bucks, of course I’ll pay it for him, just for the principle of the thing,” said Green.
But let’s be honest. The real crime is that he rented Freddy Got Fingered to begin with. The alleged “comedy” is one of the worst movies ever made and deservedly won five Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture, in 2002. No man should have to pay $2 for such a movie, let alone $200.
Beer Truck Collides with Chip Truck
I spoke too soon Florida.
To the delight of frat boys and stoners everywhere, beer and potato chips were left sprawled all over a Florida highway after a Budweiser truck reportedly collided with a Frito-Lays truck on Wednesday morning.
The two trucks crashed along I-95 in Melbourne, leading to a cleanup effort that briefly shut down the interstate. Neither driver was reported to be injured.
Roberto Ferrer Rodriguez, 54, who was driving the beer truck, was ticketed for failing to maintain a single lane.
I can see the commercial now: Two dudes are arguing on the side of the road about what to do with their day when a Budweiser and Frito-Lays truck collide spilling beers and chips right in front of them. They unfold a couple of lawn chairs and get to work. How is that not a future Super Bowl commercial?
