Weather Pattern

The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system moving southeastward through California and away from us. An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge is taking over bringing dry and sunny weather at least for a while. An Upper level Low Pressure Trough returns the chance of increasing clouds and and the small chance for showers tonight and Saturday. The graphics for days 3-7 show the frontal systems that will be affecting the West Coast next Tuesday and another front well to our north Thursday.

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Trailer

The final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has been released. Directed by J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, The Orphanage), Kingdom follows Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard’s characters returning to Isla Nublar (Sigh) with a new team in order to evacuate the dinosaurs from an erupting volcano. But their plan to save the dinosaurs is interrupted when a businessman (Rafe Spall) intervenes to bring the dinosaurs to the mainland and sell them to the highest bidder. Not only does the plot sound stupid and preposterous, but it’s also recycled from The Lost Word: Jurassic Park. Color me skeptical, but I’m intrigued by Bayona’s direction. Coming from a horror background, he seems to have infused terror into this sequel that the first film sorely lacked. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens June 22. No Current Trailer

After the loss of Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, her daughter's family begin to learn terrifying secrets about their ancestry. This looks disturbing, creepy and terrifying. Sign me up! ‘Hotel Artemis’ Trailer

The first trailer for Hotel Artemis has been released. Written and directed by Drew Pearce, the film stars Jodie Foster as a nurse who runs a secret hospital for criminals. But when the secret gets out, this members-only facility turns into a war zone. The premise is similar to that of John Wick's The Continental hotel, but I like the energy and tone in this trailer. The cast is absolutely stacked and visually it looks quite impressive for a first-time director. Hotel Artemis opens June 8.No Current Trailer

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for The Meg. Look, it's a movie about a giant shark terrorizing people. The first half of this trailer takes itself way too seriously before suddenly turning into another Sharknado but with a bigger budget. I don't think Jason Statham will be able to roundhouse kick his way out of this one. And why is it called The Meg? In the immortal words of Sean Parker, "Drop the the. It's cleaner." ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer

A new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has debuted. This is the second anthology Star Wars movie and the second to have a much-publicized production. Phil Lord and Chris Miller were initially hired to direct, but they were replaced with veteran Ron Howard even after most of the film had already been shot. Judging by the trailer, it seems like a seamless transition. The film looks well shot, entertaining and Alden Ehrenreich looks a little more comfortable as a young Han Solo. And let's not forget about Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian. He might steel the movie. Solo: A Star Wars Story opens May 25.No Current Trailer

The first trailer for The First Purge has been released. This is the fourth film in the popular horror franchise and the first prequel. The premise is simple: for one night a year, all crime is legal. The first trailer for Night School has been released. Kevin Hart stars as a man who must attend night school to pass the GED exam and finish high school. I've never been the biggest Kevin Hart fan, but the movie also stars Tiffany Haddish coming off of her breakout role in Girl's Trip. She stole that movie, she stole the Oscars and it appears that she'll steal this movie from Hart. Night School opens September 28.No Current Trailer

‘Terminal’ Trailer

The first trailer for Terminal has been released. Margot Robbie stars as a femme fatale/waitress involved in a twisted world of assassins and other nefarious individuals. It's hard to pin point exactly what this movie is about, but it sure looks great. Throw in Simon Pegg and a random Mike Myers sighting and you might have something intriguing here. The first trailer for Kodachrome has been released. Jason Sudeikis, Elizabeth Olson and Ed Harris star in this dramedy about a man attempting to reconnect with his father. I love a good road trip movie and it's great to see Sudeikis tackling more dramatic work. It's also nice to see Harris doing work like this and not Geostorm. ‘Under the Silver Lake’ Trailer

The first trailer for Under the Silver Lake has been released. Andrew Garfield stars as a man who meets a mysterious woman at his apartment complex. But when she disappears randomly the next day, he begins a quest to find out where she went. The film is directed by David Robert Mitchell whose debut, It Follows, was one of the most original and satisfying horror movies in years. This looks refreshingly different from that film and I was reminded of Inherent Vice while watching the trailer. Under the Silver Lake opens June 22.No Current Trailer

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Tag. Based on a true story, the comedy centers around a group of friends who have been playing a game of Tag for thirty years. This is a concept that has me intrigued. The group of friends include Jon Hamm, Ed Helms, Jeremy Renner, Jake Johnson and Hannibal Buress and it appears to be a heartfelt story about life-long friendship disguised as a simple comedy. ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’ Trailer

A new trailer for Sicario: Day of the Soldado has been released. Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin return for this sequel that follows the pair continuing down a path of wild west tactics to prevent attacks from occurring on America. But when a young girl witnesses one of their missions, del Toro's mysterious Alejandro suddenly grows a conscience and he aims to protect her from Brolin and an army. The thought of a Sicario sequel was surprising, but after seeing this, I'm all in. Sicario: Day of the Soldado opens June 29.No Current Trailer

‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ Trailer

The first trailer for Can You Ever Forgive Me? has been released. Melissa McCarthy stars as a struggling writer unable to pay her bills. Desperate, she begins forging the words which dead writers had written on small notes and memos to raise prices to collectors. I like seeing McCarthy in a more serious role. She was fantastic in St. Vincent and I've grown a little tired of seeing her do stupid comedies like Tammy and The Boss. This looks promising.
