Hazardous Weather Outlook and Snow For Eugene

The Red Area is the Forecast

Update: Well, we made it one day. Tiny spitting snow at the house today, but no accumulation. Now, the NOAA is predicting 90% chance of snow WED and THU, with temps. in the 20’s at night. It’s going to snow!

According to NOAA, the National Weather Service, the Eugene area is on a Winter Storm Watch for Hazardous Weather from tonight through Sunday. The forecast is calling for two to four inches of snow in the next two days.

If you think it is too late in the year for a good snow, remember back to the “Big Snow” that started in Jan., 1968, but ended in Feb. It snowed nearly four feet here in Eugene! Check out this video.

Call me crazy, but I love the snow. The more the better. I was a kid during The Big Snow, and I loved getting to stay home for a week, using the sled to go to the store, and having my Dad use his big 4X4 pick-up to help neighbors dig out. I’m sure that won’t happen again, but I’m still getting my wood stove heated up just in case.
