Thursday – Night on the Town

Empty Space Orchestra - EDN says attend this, you'll say thanks later.

Here we are at the preliminaries for another big weekend. This time we’ve got Earth Day, Easter, Last Band Standing, Wicked, and a big high school sports event down at Hayward field all complicating your choices. No worries, we’re here to help you plan your night out.

High End: Doug Benson – WOW Hall, 7:30pm – $23 at the door. Your 420+1 comedy treat…its not music, but it shall be fun.

High Brow: Empty Space Orchestra – Luckey’s, 9pm $5. High brow being the music, this is a thinking mans Jam band – Emerson Lake and Palmer meet indie pop with a lot of edge. Check out the tunes on their page, then make your plans.

High Drama: Rime of the Ancient Mariner – The Wandering Goat, 7pm, no cover. Yes, Poetry. When’s the last time you did this? The famous poem recitation by Diantha Hull. Preceded by a short open poetry mic, preceded by Bob Welch reciting a few of his favorite poems. Get out of your comfort zone.

Hungry: A Procrastinator – Heidi Tunnell Catering Company, 6pm – $15. Ok, this is actually a well kept secret and involves a great meal with entertainment. The third Thursday of each month HTCC offers up a special meal; with one seating at 6:30pm, doors open at 6pm for live music (beer, wine and appetizers available for purchase during this time). Dinners are served family style. Dessert is extra. Be sure to tip the musician(s).
